Please tell me that there is not one of you reading this that hasn’t played Bejewelled before probably on your PC.

The reason I say that is because not only is it a fantastic addictive puzzle game it is also possibly one of the most important games in the history of video gaming!

Why I hear you shout would I say that about a game which is essentially just one of the many get three colours next to each other to score points and move on to the next level type game.

Well the answer is this – Bejewelled played a very important part in the formation of the genre now known as casual gaming and its influence can now be seen throughout the many available games you can play on sites such as facebook and download for your PC.

It is not that much of a surprise then that the sequel is now available as a download on the PS3 and believe me like its predecessor or the other versions of this game this will eat your life away as you put it on just for five minutes and then find out you should have been at work over an hour ago.

There are eight different modes for you to get to grips with on the ps3 version; four are available from your initial download whilst four become available as you progress.

All of them however, follow the same basic pattern of matching three gems, they just add bits like time modes or introducing bombs or a mode where you have to clear all the gems and leave none behind.

Graphically the puzzle grid itself is bright and colourful but the backgrounds in places are a little flat. Maybe on a system like the PS3 this could have been more developed but to be honest anything other than what has been used could have been an unwelcomed distraction especially in any of the timed modes.

Sound wise there is a soundtrack that wouldn’t look out of place in some cheesy US sci-fi series of the eighties and nineties.

Overall its Bejewelled 2 – no more no less. It is fiendishly addictive and a version on the PS3 offers the chance for non-pc owners to finally see what all the fuss is about.

Actually in my opinion even if you have played this before on another system or its predecessor it is still worth buying as it is one of the best titles currently available to download from the PSN by a country mile.

Recommended is not a strong enough word for a game as addictive as this one.
