Friday March 21, 2008 Jared Carson- Final Fantasy 12 & God of War (PS2) So now that I have starded to scan the budget shelves for something epic and sweet to play i have found these 2 games. Both of which hit the $20 rack and present the ever so sweet cheap and epic feel you should run out and grab these titles. FF12 presents you with the sweetest Final Fantasy character in Bathier and God of War shows you how bad ass a Spartan names Kratos (not King Leonidas) can be. If you are looking for a great game to carry on that old PS2 you have sitting there till you can afford a PS3 you should go grab these for a steal. You wil find them to fulfill you wildest dreams and with GoW your sickest fantasy. Plus for the lonley guy like me, FF12 has a great story of friendship and GoW has great nudity. Justin Whitmer - Touch Screen Gaming (Ye Old Taverne) So you're at the bar. You're getting your drink on. A cigarette burns from your lips. Its all gravy baby because you're fully engrossed in your touch screen game. The relatively small machines litter bars and convienence stores across the country. It only takes a quarter or two, and you can get engrossed in a range of games from poker and strategy, to sports or trivia. Personally, I am a master at the Erotica Photohunt, but hey got a quarter? You could find out yourself.
Ray Tennant - Grand Theft Auto 3 (PS2) We all know the name GTA, I'm sure we have all played it at some point or another. This is just a reminder that the game is still out there and you can enjoy it for under $20.This game if you don't know is one of the best games of the past generation. It started a whole new sandbox genre, that many open ended games are now based upon. Now because you will be waiting just a few more months for GTA 4, go back and run through the first of the GTA 3 trilogy.
Ron Whitmer - Super Smash Bros. Melee (GC)
After Street Fighter 2 set the standard for fighting games in the early 90's, few original concepts were conceived to push the genre forward. Using dinosaurs or claymation characters were not progression, although interestingly Nintendo also added those to the mix. Yes, once again it took the folks at Nintendo to reinvent the wheel and make fighting games fun again. How did they do it? More blood? Make it 3D? Add impossible combos? Not even close. All they did was make it 4 player friendly, and easy to pick up. Oh, and they threw in some Pokemon too for good measure. Yes, Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64 was one of the few titles that Nintendo fanboys like me could wave around proudly, it couldn't get any better. But Nintendo 1-Upped themselves on the Gamecube with one of the best launch titles ever. More characters, more weapons, more stages, and more Smashes. Super Smash Bros. Melee is damn near perfect in the gameplay department, and one of the best times you'll have with some friends. So while they put the finishing touches on Super Smash Bros. Brawl, pick this one up if you missed it, grab a couple buddies, and cry when you get beaten by Jigglypuff.
